I was wondering what the 'glass' globe used a the beginning of the BBC weather forecasts was. Is it a representation of a real-world object (seem to vaguely remember it representing some sort of weather instrument, though can't find anything out about it on the Internet), or is it just a crystal ball (seems about right given the accuracy of weather forecasting...
