Recently I watched an episode of Knight Rider where there was a second Knight car, KARR. Is my memory playing tricks with me but I vaguely remember another episode with KARR in appearing from a beach? I thought it had been destroyed.

Originally K.A.R.R. was to be rendered useless with the aid of a powerful resonating laser which BONNIE installed in K.I.T.T., but this was only good for two shots before it would deplete K.I.T.T.'s batteries. When this means of attack failed, Michael's only option was to challenge the vehicle to a head-on chicken run on a high-altitude seafront road. K.A.R.R.'s programming forced it to turn away first, and it crashed over the edge of the cliff and into the sea, apparently destroyed. Two years later, Michael and K.I.T.T. were alarmed to discover that K.A.R.R. was still "alive." He had been discovered buried on the beach by John Stanton, and the car used him to steal alpha-capacitors and a new-and-improved laser from the Foundation. He then orchestrated a trap for Michael and K.I.T.T. based around the robbery of a gold shipment, and was once again apparently destroyed. The KITT versus KARR episode you have just seen was most likely "Trust Doesn't Rust" from the first series where KARR made his debut....the episode where they "turbo boost" into each other and KARR goes to the giant chrusher in the sky was from the sixth episode from the third season and was called "KITT V KARR"...you've just seen them out of order that's all.

Incidentally, for the real saddo's amongst us, KARR had a different voice over artist in the two episodes...Paul Frees in the latter episode and Peter Cullen originally...neither matching up to the more polished voice of KITT (William Daniels).

I'll go and lock myself back into my 80s timewarp now.

Yeah, I still want that car :o(
As a side note, it is common knowledge amongst 'Hollywood' set builders of the time, that on average 3 K.I.T.T's were destroyed per episode. The demands that the script writers placed on the character Michael Knight to do 'crazy' car stunts took there toll on the Pontiac cars. The 80's were certainly a wild time for car stunts, Smokey and the Bandit being another high car punishment tv extravagansa
