BBC2 Birthday Night- what was the music?

The other night at the end of the BBC 40th birthday programme they played a very moving instrumental piece of music. It was very familiar to me, but does anyone know what it was? I have a feeling it was in a film or tv drama and it's driving me nuts.

I've seen this question come up on another site I visit and the answer given there was that it's the theme music from "Shooting The Past". Don't know who the composer is, but I guess you could probably find out on imdb.
