No, he did not. Ken Barlow was exempt from doing National Service because he was doing his teacher training at the time. Coronation Street press office say this at the time was seen as a valuable service towards education, thus exempting him from national service

I can confirm a previous answer that Ken was exempt from NS, to much of a wimp to survive at that time anyway!
