Completely hammered is a programme on UKTV Style where handymen show women how to do little repair jobs around the house. I am not a feminist, and couldn't be if I tried, but I find the idea of the programme really offensive. From the day I left home to live on my own, I have learned how to wallpaper, put up tiles, laid 3 bathroom carpets, minor plumbing, electrics and plastering, have built a desk which wasn't a flat pack. My husband generally does most of the prepping when we decorate and I do the more precise stuff. I am not trying to blow my own trumpet, but couldn't the programme be aimed at both sexes?

i agree, coggles. a lot of these sort of programmes have a very un-pc approach.
just look at diy sos, where the appeals people make to have their houses done up generally go along the lines of 'the house is a mess because my husband hasn't done the diy' and lowry turner and the wife spend most of the show moaning about how bad he is for not pulling his finger out and getting on with the diy!
i'm with you too coggles - i'm much more useful with all that stuff than most of my male mates! some of them don't even know what to do if a fuse blows or how to wire a plug!
