Is this not the lowest of the low. What are the tv companies thinking of? Or is that the problem? They are unable to think up any new ideas. Just how did the conversation go?

Let's make a new programme.
What about?
I don't know - Cooking programmes are always popular (?).
Reality tv shows go down well.
What about something with celebrities?
Lets put them all together and see what we have.
Oh, and let's put it on at prime time tv.
All week.

What utter cr*p.How gullible do they think we are ? Can they not come up with something a bit more oiginal?
What do you think?

i agree... but i'll still watch it as i love gordon!
I think your point is perfectly valid, but it's the 'Westlife quotient - if out of a country of 60 million people, 59 million think it's utter pants, but the other million are up for it, that's a victory in terms of reward for effort, so that's why this kind of lowest common denominator TV will always be around. You (and I) will simply find something else to do. I favour putting items in the fridge in alphabetical order for a higher mental stimulation exercise, but you can always think of something of your own.

Very true, Andy. I think I'll go and count the spots on my wallpaper.
Anyone for watching paint dry?
come on guys, don't you think you're being rather harsh. TV has to cater for all kinds of viewers and whats wrong with a little 'light entertainment'? its not as if there aren't other mediums that can quench your thirst for erudition.

Natty, you're missing the point. The tv companies seem unable to think up any original ideas these days. They stick to the same old formula. ie Reality tv, cooking programmes, gardening programmes, make-overs, soaps and quizzes. If they can't think of anything new, they combine any of the above.
What happened to originality? You say they have to cater to everyone, and I say that's exactly what they're not doing.
Yes, I agree we can switch off and go and do something else, (and I invariably do), but I pay my tv licence same as everyone else, and the comercial channels rake in the money from advertising and phone-ins. Is this really the best they can come up with, with the money they get in?
We don't seem to be getting value for money, Where is the variety in programmes these days.

Molly...
