Over 20 years ago I watched a TV drama when I was living in Italy; it was not Italian made and I am fairly certain it was British. Plot: Around 1910, orphan girl has been shunted around various relatives; eventually she goes to live with a cantankerous uncle and his two sons, who both fall in love with her. One is arrogant like the father, but she marries the younger one who is interested in piloting planes and new inventions. They go to London where she becomes a suffragette. Husband dies in plane crash. Older brother makes maid pregnant, and poor maid is sent to workhouse. Gamekeeper is also in love with girl. WW1 breaks out, older brother is killed; afterwards social mores have changed and when gamekeeper comes back from war, she marries him; together they will run the mansion/estate and bring up the older brother's child. The title on the Italian TV translates as 'Little old English world' but was probably not the original title.

"Flambards", based on the books by K.M. Peyton. It's available on VHS and DVD, and has recently been on UK Gold. Most people remember the distinctive theme tune (whistled, with someone chanting "Mom")
