UKTVG2 is now called Dave.......WHY?

I was channel hopping this evening and noticed that the cable channel 'UKTVG2' is now called Dave. Aside from the fact that I can't decide whether it is a great name or lousy one for a TV. channel, do any of you have any idea why?

Suppose you search the interet for what is on the channel.

A search in Google for UKTVG2 gives 17,800 hits (which is still a lot)

A search in Google for dave gives 149 MILLION hits.

As I said, idiots.

Can I just ask you others (hello!) if you have a freeview box what channel it is on your box? I see from the links that it says 19 but it is channel 12 on mine, yet I thought I saw on the actual channel when it was advertising itself that it said 10 for freeview??

My fiance convinced our kids that the removable grill pan handle was called Dave,they are grown up now and we still all refer to the handles as Dave.

Thanks for your considered opinions one and all. You can imagine the meeting can't you. "Well, I like Steve", "I like Robert" etc. etc. As a provocative side-thought, do any of you think it is possibly a sexist and/or rascist choice of name considering the current climate???
