Showtime at the Apollo

Way back in the early 90`s they showed the programme in the UK, and there was one winner on it who was a big afican american bloke with a fantastic voice. Does anybody else remember the programme and better still remember the bloke who i`m on about

I remember the show. It was filmed at The Apollo in Harlem and this bloke you mentioned wiped the floor with the competition each week - it was like "Harlem's got Talent" all the locals went on and sang a lot of Gospel and in fact this bloke used to go on and sing "God Bless the Child" if they were rubbish they'd boo them off. Fashion was just like Eddie Murphy's "Coming to America" film and I think he stole 90% ofthe characters for the film from that show too.

Yep thats the song he used to sing almcd007, but for the life of me can`t remember his name. I`ll have a search on youtube for that song and see if it comes up with anything :)
