After watching tonights Heartbeat , I was dissapointed to find they have changed the film quality , The 60's feel has gone which is a shame, still a quality storyline but the whole 60's era feel has been lost ,
It looked horrible! It looked poorly filmed and looked like the entire programme had been filmed on a cheap studio set .I thought at one point when the CID woman went out that the scenery would collapse if she slammed the door..The sound quality was appalling and the entire feel of the programme felt cheap .there were actors in shot when they shouldnt have been and it looked like they were trying to emulate an early Coronation Street episode..I was surprised they left it in colour! Its lost its depth of shot and even the North yorkshire moors looked odd. If they are doing this to save money they picked the wrong show!! Maybe they got the sets from Prisoner cell block H..Be interesting to see what Lord Ashfordlys house will look like..Hopefully more realistic than the farm with the 1970s dorma window on that David is supposed to live in now...Hope they dont do it to The Royal too.
Just watching it, so I can't really comment on the film quality or any changes BUT...
the series has actually been running for longer than the decade it's supposed to be set in, they have had many different lead coppers, Christmasses, etc, so if they are still supposed to be in the sixties, it must be the late sixties by now, and they are still using STEAM trains. Come on.....
I know it's 2 weeks too late but I only watched the episode last night after sky-plussing it 2 weeks ago
I think they used to film Heartbeat on tape and process the tape to make it look "filmed" (there is a name for this)
I think the current look is
a. without the processing
b. filmed in high def without the processing
