I remember watching a programme late night on itv late 80's early 90's and i'm sure it was the highwaymen, dressed in black and had a futuristic car and a truck of which popped a helicopter, any clues or was i dreaming

It was "The Highwayman", a short-lived US show with Sam "Flash" Jones, Jane "V" Badler and Tim "Tuvok" Russ: http://epguides.com/Highwayman/ . If memory serves, the truck/helicopter thing didn't happen that often - must have cost too much!
yeh i remember that - cult viewing if i remember correcty his accomplice was australian 'hoiway' !!!!
I remember that show. The Australian character was called Jetto, and he was played by an actor called Jacko. It wasn't on for very long, which was a shame coz I thought it was great!
