Hi, SKA! I went to see it on Friday and it was okay. It's worth seeing just for a perv, really and a bit of a giggle in places. :o)
The two friends I went to see it with were blubbing quite a bit, but it didn't really touch me. It wasn't enough like the book for me. Personally, I don't think Hilary Swank was right for the role as Holly as she wasn't convincing enough as the "greiving widow".
I would say go and see it, though, just don't expect too much if you're a fan of the book. :o)
My friend went last night; she said that despite the fact that it is quite different from the book it is still very good. She left having laughed, cried and established a new found crush on Mr Butler :-)
Ooooh cb I was going to recommed this to you in fact I think I did in my email (if you could find it amongst all the other *****) I thought you might like it.
I want to read the book after seeing this and it's not my usual type of book at all but I really liked the film and that's not my usual type of film either! Me and my mate were blubbing through it partly cos it is quite sad and partly because we're quite sad too :)
And the real fox in the film is William, not Gerry :)
