I loved Corrie and have been a fan for years. It seemed to hit the balance between humour and more meaty storylines, but over recent months I watch it less and less and find the scripts have lost their quality and the storylines are really getting boring. for example the whole Michelle and Ryan thing is not believable and is very tiring. I presume they have had another change of writer.
Does anyone else think as I do?

Yes, I agree with you. I am sick to death of the Michelle & Ryan scenario. I was also annoyed at the way in which the writers got rid of Hayley temporarily (I think the actress is taking a year out) because it was so out of character. She would never have left Roy so suddenly, if at all. She was supposed to have gone to darkest Africa on mission work but she went without the compulsory 'jabs' and took her mobile phone with her! After all, Hayley is supposed to be working in the bush not in a city with cell phone masts. I am sure the writers didn't think it through.
Yes, I think exactly as you do - Michelle's face is always the same, I am tired of seeing it! I just want that storyline to end now. It's not just Corrie though, the stories in Emmerdale are just as bad. Soaps just aint what they used to be!!
i sat in front of the 2 episodes last night and didnt take in any of the michelle / ryan story, I just blanked it out, its so boring.
I did switch my mind back on when the scenes with jack were on though.
Hayley went to France first, for training and jabs and so on.

The writing lately has been very good and the death of Vera was excellent.

I suppose it can't please all the people all the time.

I agree Lofty. Also agree with DSJ. Hayley would never have left Roy, totally unrealistic. The Ryan/Alex thing is getting irritating. Although mix-ups have occurred in hospitals it's a ridiculous story line for Corrie to go with as it is so rare for it to happen. I am still addticted to it hoping that it will regain its sharpness and generally brilliant reflection on everyday life. As you say it is very funny at times.
Ethel, just as an addition. I agree that Vera's death was handled very well with superb acting from all.

Actually Ethel, I do agree that Vera's death was handled well, but to be honest I think Bill Tarney and Liz Dawn could make even a bad script appear good. They are both excellent.

I think it's only the good acting (well mostly) and a love for some of the characters that keep me watching at the moment. I have even been known to get up and do something else recently when Corrie has been on. Well at least the wooden Sarah has disappeared now!

Thanks for your thoughts.
How was Ryan's Mobile Phone still charged after he had been missing for so long? mine lasts a couple of days at most.
