Help needed on Film

This is very vague but see if anyone knows. I'm looking for an old film ( Black and White ) with Gregory Peck ( possibly ) where he has memory problems . He goes back to places and they are completely different from how he remembers them - eg He remembers going to a basement and finds that when he goes to the Building there is no Basement. It turns out to be part of a plan to send him potty ( I think ). Not much to go on but hopefully someone might know?

This sounds like it could possibly be the 1945 movie SPELLBOUND starring Gregory Peck & Ingrid Bergman, directed by Alfred Hitchock and including a truly surreal dream sequence courtesy of Salvador Dali. Check out IMDB (Internet Movie Database) for more info, which should put you're mind at rest:)
