Peter Kay.
Jimmy Carr is supposed to be fab, I've seen bits and found him quite funny!
Anything Bill Hicks- he's by far the best ever.
Billy Connelly
Yes you can't beat a bit of Billy Conelly, 1994 is his best (in my opinion).
Lee Mack, a fiver on play.com. What more could you want? Best I've seen in a long time. Other than that I'd say Al Murray.

Thanks for all the replies:

Peter Kay - Already got one of his DVDs I want to try something different.

Jimmy Carr/Alan Carr: Seen too much of them on Channel 4.

Bill Hicks: Don't know this fella, care to elaborate?

Lenny Henry/Billy Connelly: Not really a fan of theirs anymore.

Ricky Gervais: Fair to say that he's so last year?

Eddie Izzard: One DVD I might be interested on buying but is his gags too cerebral for a simple Friday night in?

Frankie Boyle: Another one I'm interested in, I watch him a lot on all the quiz coms, but does he tend to recycle his material?
Bill Hicks sadly died in 1994, aged only 33. Difficult to compare him to anyone around today, he was so unique.Very intense, often angry young man, but a genius.
Eddie Izzard - brilliant time after time

Peter Kay - love him but tend to find he's very sameish (or maybe I've watched his stand up routine too many times)

Chris Rock (if you can put up with the F word)

Roy Chubby Brown - hate him myself but he's the only one my OH (who hates standup) will watch.

NOT Lenny Henry
NOT Barrymore
NOT Lee Evans (can't stand the sight of all that sweat)
NOT Jo Brand (only so many jokes about vaginas and being fat you can take)

Eddie and Peter - defo the best
