The Simpson, Coming to and end Aswell?

I head a rumor that the people who brought us the simpsons for so many years are making a final episode, can someone please tell me if this is true and if so why when the simpsons are still going strong with still original and still extremely funny plots

yes they have made a final episode but there still shwoing the old ones they hanv cut them off TV there the in to 10 best programmes so they wont but yes thay have made a final episode

Really? We're on series 15 now. I read an interview with Matt Groening recently in which he said they have been commissioned to make a further 2 series and 3 films. The films may never be made but apparently they are going to go up to series 17. I hope so!

In Jack magazine (UK) May 2003 p 46, Matt Groening is asked whether the next season of The Simpsons would be the last. He replies: "I made a mistake and I was misinterpreted last year. They asked me how long The Simpsons could go on and I said, 'Well, I imagine we're a little closer to the end than we are to the beginning.' That wasn't meant to signal the show's imminent demise. All I was saying was we've been on since 1987, that's 14 years, and I doubted we would be on for another 14 years after that. But who knows, maybe we will." At the time of the interview, Groening was working on ideas for a Simpsons movie.
