Is an R rated movie on tv edited for tv. Does the rating change to a lower rating?

In the UK, it depends on the channel. The short version is that the satellite and cable movie channels tend to show uncut or (occasionally) mildly cut versions as the feed is encrypted. Terrestrial channels tend to cut the movies, but may leave them untouched if shown late at night. The rating does not change as it refers to the theatrical and/or Home Video/DVD release of the movie.
