Does anyone on AB remember from the 1950's a couple dressed as a typical french dance act (him - striped jumper, moustache , her - fishnet stockings, low top and tight skirt with side splits) They would appear on things like the London palladium etc. The act consisted of him throwing her about on the floor and her fighting back with alarming looking results ?

I've seen something just like this - it was called "L'Apache".

Thanks Weggie - that seems to be exactly what I was looking for - now to search for some original footage other than the Crazy Gang on Utube!
thanks again

You know, you've set bells ringing there mata. I'm fairly sure I remember that, once the act was finished, it turned out to be just a man with a very realistic girl dummy attached to his back. They'd been dancing, then throwing each other about, but never actually separating. At the end of the act he would stand upright, she would dangle upside down from his back and anybody who hadn't seen it before would be quite amazed.
Or is my memory playing tricks?

Yes, CJP I remember that one too! but these were real people! I had another search on Google under Apache Dance and got one or two different versions on film of what I was looking for. Montmatre at it's best (or worst!!) Thanks for answering!
