An American newspaper all of a sudden started making many spelling mistakes .What explanation they gave?
The paper had been operating for many years without spelling errors. Also there was no change in staff. After the mistakes started, staff was changed but the problem continued. Later on the newspaper gave the reason/explanation for the errors.

Is this a riddle or true life?

Perhaps they were trying to send a coded message?

The question, although stilted, is in the 2nd line "What explanation they gave?"
WHAT?! What are you on about?
I'm not sure why people are having so much difficulty in understanding the question.

A newspaper was deliberately making spelling mistakes but why?
Question Author
I do not think they were doing it deliberately. In fact they even dismissed staff because of the problem. When eventually they discovered the cause/source/reason for the errors, they published it in the newspaper. What was it?
NB. This is a serious question. I do not know the answer.
Part of the printing equipment packed in?
This sounds a bit odd. The usual reason would be that either the newspaper staff were illiterate, or for some reason (eg lack of time) they weren't proofreading their pages properly before publishing. Either way it ought to be pretty obvious to the paper straightaway what the problem was, even if they couldn't fix it instantly.
I did not hear of this. Though I do not doubt its validity.

Good God! No wonder the world thinks we ar illiterate
Maybe someone sabotaged the spell-checker after everyone left for the day?
why are you worried about this YPK?cos
your grandma is not up to much innit.

.What explanation they gave?

staff was changed but the problem continued.
Maybe someone set their spellchecker to use UK English instead of American English ? Although technically that would be "alternate" spellings rather than "mistakes" ...

i have thought long and hard about this..........

and i find myself asking ..............WHY?

has given you the answer, the printers started to use computerization and the settings put in english.the computer spell checker automatically changed the spelling over. ie colour, color
I live in East Yorkshire and I noticed a couple of weeks ago, in our local newspaper Classified Ads, under Birds for Sale, someone had placed an ad offering their unwanted "cocktails". I laughed because they obviously meant cockatiels.

Lately I have noticed other typing errors and I wonder if it is because you can type up your own advertisement and email it to the newspaper (you can do this in our area for classified ads) - and maybe no-one proof reads it, perhaps just copies and pastes?

Just a thought.
Perhaps they moved to another building on a higher floor and the Editor had Heiht problem and felt dizzy and couldn't find the mistakes to correct them and so they printed them.
When they were in the old building they had written all the difficult words somewhere (walls, tables, etc.) and when they moved they couldn't get them with them so they couldn't avoid spelling mistakes.
