What was that film!?

I watched this film years ago, and i didnt catch the start, must have been half way thru it and all i can remember are these two kids who are locked in a sort of cage by this witch, who i think is going to cook them....really similar to Hansel and Gretel.....so while she's preparing the broth or whatever to cook them in she tells them a few scary stories, one of which was about a black evil cat who went inside his owner in the middle of the night, thru his/her mouth....then i remember a gargoyle or something being in it. I cant remember much else, so I hope that from the info i've given someone can suss what film i'm talkin about! Thanks to anyone who can help!

I'm not entirely certain, but I think it was the Tales From The Darkside Movie from 1990. Wierdly has some pretty good actors in it including Steve Buscemi, Julianne Moore and Christian Slater. Also the cat story was written by Steven King and George A Romero worked on the screenplay!
