how come we dont hear anymore about violet and seans baby anymore, he was heartbroken when she left with the baby and prepared to go to any lengths to have the baby with him and now, he never mentions him!!! with corrie it seems out of sight and the viewer wont know
Gina - Sean doesn't know where Violet is. It would be too miserable to have him pining for the baby all the time, but I agree a passing comment would add to continuity.
I would like more reference to past characters, but I think the writers are concerned about alienating more recent viewers.
and yes agree with ethel, I mean what about Tracy no-one mentions her, and Sarah. Hayleys not even left the programme but she's never mentioned. And veras been forgotten about
Hayley is mentioned quite a lot - Roy received a letter from her just last week.
He got the sack for skiving in the pub and returning to work late. He had already been caught out by claiming to be at the doctor's when in fact he was helping Michelle in the pub.
And in an episode shortly after Violet left, he told his partner that as he didn't know the whereabouts of his son, there was no point moping about and decided to get on with his life and forget the son
The storylines of late have been so stupid the quiker forgot the better.
It's utter trash. It's certainly gone way down hill from the days of tracey and fella, peter's marraige shenanagins, davids wierdo personality & the baldwins. Keith duffy as kieran was adorabe. All's we get now are bl**dy arguments so the cast can disappear.. hayley, sarah, paul, lauren (thank god), all the baldwins, violet, steve. Hope vern doesn't go. It's bl**dy stupid.
sean also got the sack for having a drink in his lunchbreak and then returning to work, isnt that what every episode nearly is about, the factory work force going to the pub at lunchtime and then going back to work at machines???? which means they should all have got the sack.
Love the way they all live spitting distance from their doorsteps, yet get tea/coffee and breakfast in Roys, lunch from The Rovers or Jerrys, then spend the evening in the Rovers.
The lack of continuity that exists in normal life - mentioning relatives who are absent - wathing TV without turning it off without complaint when someone arrives, never discusing any news issues, never supporting a football team, and in the case of EastEnders - never owning a washing machine ...
they are all devices that make soaps work. Any 'normal' life aspects would simply slow everything down to unwatchable boredom levels.
Hayley is often mentioned. Deidre visited Tracy this week & wrote to her. Gail has been talking a lot about Sarah & debating going to visit her, which she now has. If the people in Corrie & Albert Square did not go to the cafes/ pubs as much there`d be no need to have them in the storylines. End of Roy`s Rolls/Kathy`s/ Rovers/Queen Vic
