Virgin V+ box

Hello all, does anyone know what the usb port on the back of the V+ box is used for? I was thinking about sticking in my external HD to copy things I have recorded from Virgin and view them on the PC.

You can't use it to directly copy recordings to an external hard drive, and even if you could your pc wouldn't have the Virgin codings to view them.
You can use a dvdrw and copy to disc easily enough (assuming you have a stand alone dvd recorder). You could view those on your pc and manipulate them however you liked.

This is an answer to your question that I found on another site.
"The USB ports were integrated into the design of the PVR3s with the intention of using them to connect to external media players, Pace did in fact develop such a device BUT it never got to market because of DRM/rights issues, so the functionality (and sometimes power) has never been turned on in the firmware/software and is now highly unlikely to be.
