Is anyone else completely disgusted that 3million will be spent on a state funeral for Margaret Thatcher!! I am appaled, i mean there is the invention of a cancer-stopping jab which we cant have because of the expense. Surely money could be spent on that instead!!

Don't you think that it would be nicer for people to wait until she has actually died before attempting to arrange the funeral? It all seems to have raised so much controversy which can't be pleasant for her and her family and friends. I agree with whoever said in this thread that she was the last P.M. we had with any balls!

regardless of her popularity, 3million is a total waste of money, people are sick and dying and schools closing down lack of policing on the steets, the list goes on through lack of money, and they, allegedly, want to spend a disgusting amount on a funeral, what is the world coming to

Some of Thatchers achievements include deregulation of financial sector, resulting in bankers running amok and gambling on American sub-prime mortgages. Withdrawing our gun ship protection in South Atlantic allowing the Argentinians to think we were no longer interested in defending the Falklands. Decimation of our heavy industries, shipbuilding, steel making, coal mining etc. Selling off our stock of council houses and not allowing councils to replace them, therefor creating a housing shortage for the lower paid. Underfunding schools, resulting in overcrowded classrooms with leaking roofs and five children having to share one text book. Underfunding hospitals resulting in overcrowded wards, patients in corridors, in Victorian buildings, People dieing because of long waiting lists to see consultants. I don't think a penny more of our money should be wasted on her.
