Reality tv program

Hi everyone.

My sister has come up with a reality tv program.
Can anyone tell me what is the best way to approach a tv company without them nicking the idea? Any any other tips would be most appreciated.

I remember a kids program years ago where a kid had invented a product (was it invisible spray?? can't remember exactly) anyway someone pinched his idea but he had posted the recipe of the product to himself years before, left it unopened and the date that the letter had been stamped proved he was the original inventor as it was earlier than what the other was claiming to have invented it.

So tell your sister to post a copy of her idea to herself and leave it unopened. That's one idea anyway, pretty sure there must be more official methods lol

GOOD reality program? Is there such a thing?

They'll stick nick it.. that is, if it's a good one.
What they'll do is nick bits of it and add bits of their own and claim it's their own if you were to dispute it, weather you have your unopened letter or not. And have you got the money to take it court?

You can still try by sending it to the tv companies and there are many of them. But remember that on average 300 of these things from the public land on their desks every week. Gd luck anyway. To be a program creator you need marketing skills, communication skills, audience awareness and research knowledge. If sending the idea it will be required in professional format with a treatment, synopsis, series and program lenght. If it's just on a bit of paper it will go straight into the bin.. HTH

All they'll do is change the format a bit - like the BBC had that celebrity dancing show, copied on ITV as ice dancing.
