My boyf watched this for the 1st time the other day and is confused as to what the ending meant. I understand that by letting go of his life he was no longer haunted by demons. But the very end when he's in the hospital in 'Nam.. was all the trippy stuff just his life racing through his head? Please help. This is how I see it but boyf does not agree..

I saw it many years ago and was of the opinion that it was all a flash in his brain/mind as he lay on the op table and what could have been...but not sure ...was so long ago!!!
see this forum post http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099871/board/flat/10236122 The parent site http://www.imdb.com is great for all film related information - I think its one of the webs best sites.

my boyf was also of the impression that in that end scene, Jacob was the doctor and the guy on the table was someone else. Please prove me right..
Last time I saw this was on the original cinema release (!) and wasn't impressed, but the way I saw it, and the generally accepted theory, is that it's all happening in his mind as he dies.
