Who knows how each person will develop during the series. Its also possible that you may not get the variety of ages and skills that you do at the moment, I would hate it if it was all c list celebs, wags and youngsters using it like they do in programmes such as the Sound of Music auditions
Lets face the controversy over John probably boosted ratings!!!!

Will miss him, and was happy to vote for him. If one of the better dancers (i.e. Tom, Austin or Rachel) had gone instead then I could understand the fuss, but Cherie quite frankly couldn't dance quicky and was totally exposed in the Latin section. Still l believe that even if he had stayed in a little longer ultimately one of the better dancers would have won.
Thank-you John for proviving entertainment in an 'entertainment' show.
Wikll now be rooting for Tom.

His excuse that he's left because he was in danger of winning is farcical.
The way the rules are there is no way he could even have reached the final. He was always going to be bottom on the judges' score board - by a very long way - so when it got down to the final four contestants he would still be in the bottom two even if he got most votes from the public and the judges would then ditch him in the dance-off.
Good riddance I say.

The memory of John Sergeant dragging Kristina across the floor as if she was a sack of potatoes (pasa doble) will stay with me for ever. If I am ever fed up I shall think of that, and also the marching. I know he couldn't dance, but he was such fun. He's done the right thing in going, but I shall miss him.
What a bloody farce..... He should never have been invited to join in the first place, they knew he was going to be clumsy and hefty etc etc.... What they didn't bank on was John being a complete gentleman with a warm heart and a wonderful smile. What a shame he's been pushed out like this. But I also think his supporters will vote with thier remote controls and switch off now. MAybe next year they'll think twice before they put someone in just to ridicule, this year they have scored an outstanding home goal... BBC PILLOCKS. Good luck John, I for onr will miss you. x
Personally I think his presence (not him) was making a mockery of the show, this was further supported by many of the comments here and elsewhere which for a large part were more about voting to spite the judges than a positive vote for john.
I heard phone calls on the radio with people saying they never watch the program but were voting for John.
Thing is some like me had no option to vote him off. It's all well and good saying the people have voted but there is no option to vote him off. From what I could tell there was pretty much a 50/50 split, those that wanted him on and those that wanted him off.
The final thing is the judges, it seems some people are upset about his treatment, to be honest I can't see how on the one hand they can claim John should be on because he is providing entertainment and then criticise a panel of judges who are there simply for the same purpose. I don't think any of the comments were unjustified, fact was he was an awful dance regardless of whether it was entertaining or not.
