What was that kids TV show in the 80s where 3 celeb guests (like john craven) went to a space station and had to complete tasks ending with the 'vortex' crossing. and there was a talking plant.

It was the Adventure game and the talking plant was called Uncle.

The plant was and aspidistra who was the great Rangdo of Arg. Also featured was a guy who sang "once a jolly swagman" backwards and some clever stuff with multi sided and multi coloured coins. There was a link to a site in a question about this some time ago, but I don't have the link. Maybe a search for "adventure game" or vortex might find it on AB. Good luck
