msn/skype/oovoo

My son has just moved to Oman and we wanted to keep in touch with either of the above however Skype and Oovoo wont load at all for him. MSN works intermitantly on voice calls, but not at all on Video - does anyone know if Oman accomodates this

Oman blocked Skype some years ago, and as far as I know this is still the case:

I would dissuade your son from trying to find work arounds:

What do you mean skype wont load for him...

They can't stop a program loading.... and it's virtually impossible to block skype from working (trust me..... I was asked to block it on my company network a couple of weeks ago and I can't block the service)

All they have done is stopped access to the skype website so you can't download the program, if you can download it for them and then put it on a file sharing site so he can get it from there I reckon it will work

Aha... maybe on the strength of Ethels last post (that wasn't there when I started) my idea isn't so good!
