What does everyone think about this new channel? Does anyone know when BBC Three will be launched?

I got the impression that BBC Three was just a rebranded BBC Choice, and BBC Four was a rebranded BBC Knowledge, or are they actually additional channels?
I think you're right: BBC 4 replaced BBC Knowledge. I'm not sure if there is a BBC 3 what channel it will replace.
If you compare radio with television, BBC 1 is Radio 2, BBC 2 is Radio 4, BBC 3 is Radio 1, BBC 4 is Radio 3. Someone can't count somewhere...
BBC Three will be launched when the government give the BBC approval to launch it. Originally, the BBC submitted plans to the Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell, who has the final say when the BBC wants to launch new or rebranded channels, and she approved plans for BBC Five Live Xtra, Radio 1 Xtra, BBC 6 Music, the CBBC and CBeebies channels for kids and BBC Four but not BBC Three. She didn't like some of what the BBC wanted it to do and told them to think about it and re-submit it later in the year. So the BBC launched BBC Four on top of BBC Knowedge and let a big gap where BBC Three will eventually be.
