Yeah, I also wondered what was missing until I watched the reapeats that were on afterwards, then it hit me - there was no laughter track!!

I've watched Red Dwarf from the start and have to say that I was sorely disappointed by the two episodes aired so far.
They all seem to have forgotten how to play the characters and the story line of them being tv characters would just about befit a comic relief special.

Doesn't bode well for a new series unless you're a big fan of series 8. Its quite odd that Dave are showing some real classic episodes afterwards (back to reality etc) as these only help to show just how shoddy the new ones are.

I'll get off my soapbox now....
