...a fountain-pen? I just came across one that I haven't used in eons. Went down to the local office supply store and they sell INK in BOTTLES!!! Now I carry a fountain-pen, fully loaded, clipped in my shirt pocket. That's really ancient and posh aint it?

That's why I decided not to carry it in my handbag, doncha know. But how do you get inkstains out of shirts:)
Hi stewey,
I have a modern pen that writes like a fountain pen & I love using it & the way it writes! But you can't beat the 'feel' of writing with an old original! x

Think milk takes an ink stain out then wash as normal.

I have another old standby, but I don't use it: the quill tickles me nose.
need my chisel sharpening and a few new stone tablets!
I own 5, we had to use them in the pretentious grammar school my parents forced me to go to!
They were cartridge rather than inkwell though!
Seriously stewey, there's something really lovely about writing with a fountain pen. Just remembered my dad has three lovely old marbled fountain pens!

Sachs....I remember being about eight years old and having enough money to buy my first fountain-pen: it was my pride and joy!!
well moses did his best but he didn't get the final answer to the ten commandments, Gordon Brown!!
I have a Parker fountain pen which I was given in the 1960's. It can convert to use cartridges or ink from a bottle. I really loved it as it lets you write fast and smoothly. Unfortunately the nib has worn down and they can't replace it so I use disposible fountain pens now. You can get them in really exciting colours.

It seems to me that the cartridge ones were more prone to leaking than the suckerup types.
mine's a shearer, lovely and comfortouble to hold, but it still leaks, mind you it is very old!
Hell, yes
The cartridges leaked all the the time. Not good in a cream blouse!!

Do you think that it would be a tad too much to carry a wad of blottingpaper in my other pocket?
My dad writes in this style!
