Only just caught up with this after taping the last 10 episodes, so forgive me if this has been discussed before - and I know it's a soap OK?

Now that Colin has revealed he slept with Julie's mother when she was an under-age schoolgirl, should he be charged with the appropriate offence? I think there is no doubt that he should and for him to get away with it would be unforgivable, irrespective of the time gap involved.

he actually hasn't said anything yet, just the looks of guilt & shock on Rita's, & the Grimshaw's faces.
yes he should be charged (i've been suspecting this for a while)
I think he drops down dead soon doesn't he.....
He has spoken about it - he told Rita it was a 'lifetime ago, and haven't you made mistakes'.
He told Julie that he didn't know there was a pregnancy and had he known he would have 'been there for her'.
So he has admitted it.

Historic cases such as this are successfully prosecuted and the evidence is easily got, by DNA, whether the victim wishes to proceed or not.
How are the police going to get DNA from the "victim" (or the child) if they won't cooperate?
Julie would obviously have to consent to giving a DNA sample. Don't forget, Julie isn't the victim, her mother is.
Yes Ethel, I did realise who the victim is.
Although only fictinal and a soap opera.Do you think there are many cases like this?

I read somewhere that although you could trace your family tree , theres no way you can prove parentage when you go back centuries .Its assumed the parents are the kegal mother and father tho as we know thats not always the case.

Sorry does that make sense btw?
Many, many cases like this.

Yes, there is a legal presumption of paternity that makes a man legal father of his wife's child, regardless of who the father actually is, although adulterous wives have nothing to do with the pregnancy of a 14 year old girl.

Through history girls of 14, 15 and 16 have been having sex with older men. The age of consent was raised in 1885 to 16 because of the high number of child prostitutes. In Spain, the legal age of consent is 13, so he would not have committed any offence.
