So, has he left for good or is it - as I suspect - that William Roache has been written out of the show for a while so that he can mourn the unfortunate death of his wife?

corylus, Ken has'nt spent all his life in corrie st. Don't forget he was a student in london for a few years. You may find him boring as he's an intellectual,thats what he has in common with Martha. Also over the years Kens had more than his fair shares of affairs and you say he's a boring old fart? Think again.

No, I don't know that William Roache is a member of AB.

Corylus - Deidre works full time at the council and Ken will have at the very least his private pension from teaching and his state pension, and rent from Blanche.

Or maybe the mortgage is a 'for life' - very low repayments but the mortgage company owns the house when the Ken and Deidre die.
