As SB has found out to her cost - fame is a barbed-wire treadmill, you need to know exactly how to run on it, or it will tear you to pieces.

Susan is slightly autistic,on a scale of 1-10 she's about 4.. She just could'nt cope with the pressure of becoming world famous overnight. She's used to singing in her local club and church but wanted to give BTG a go. Like any people with autism Susan would worry more about letting others down than herself so please dont call her a nut!! I hope she goes home for her own good.
I wonder if the producers (when they are finished making 100% sure that they're not liable for a lawsuit in this) will sit down and have a long hard think about this - two people were apparently hurt this week in this show (the little girl who broke down on stage and Ms Boyle). Should there be some sort of psychological test before people are exposed to tens of millions of viewers, the tabloids and the pressure?
If as some are suggesting she could not cope with the pressure she could have walked away.
She was more than happy to appear on Oprah.
I didn't notice any difference in her behaviour.
Was she an undiscovered talent. Yes.
Was she as good as people made out. No
She is no better than any singer in the west end.
She was so convinced she would win it came as a bit of a shock to her.
It was reported that after the show she threw water over a floor manager and said she hated the show.
Sounds more like a temper tantrum than a breakdown

Hear hear Connemara, I give Susan credit for giving it a go. Her dream was to sing to a large audience and she did and just because she made it to the Oprah show does'nt mean she was'nt stressed. Many people just don't understand mild autism. She was supposed to be going on tour with the other winners but I think she'd be better off going home now she's realised her dream.
I don't particularly like her and agree with samuelcat. I do however feel a bit sorry for her because she was thrown into the international spotlight - more than any other contestant has ever been. Perhaps with all the media hype, she felt it was a foregone conclusion that she would win and that is the force behind her embarrassing behaviour.
I feel though that if any contestant cannot handle fame, then they should have the sense to walk away. Perhaps someone should have suggested this to SB.
