we just went to see The Grudge... what a load of nonsense. we have reached the conclusion that there are not really any scary scary films, either psychological or horror... anyone got any ideas. And please dont say The Ring, Saw or any other 'blockbuster' things like that cos they are all a bit samey.. heh.

Try "Dead Ringers'" starring Jeremy Irons as twins. If this doesn't give you the creeps nothng will!

Saw was pretty dire really wasn't it? One of the most pschologically scary films I've seen is 'the Vanishing' in its original Dutch version.
If you haven't yet seen it, try Darkness Falls, it has me jumping out of my skin and scared the bejesus out of my sister and we are both of the same mind as yourself.

try sum classics

Psycho

Omen

Spice Girls: The Movie

I have yet to see a movie I found scary. I just thought I ought to point out that it ceratinly wasn't "Darkness Falls", which is very poor. I think anyanka may be a tad biased towards its star, the lovely Emma Caulfield, who played Anya(nka) in "Buffy".

texas chainsaw massacre(1973)

last house on the left

death trap

magic

just for starters....

"A tale of two sisters" is pretty intense and has a great twist.  Not your classic slasher slick but gripping all the same.
i always thought 'THE BURNING' was quite a good creepy horrer although it is rather old. here comes croppsy!!!!!!.
I was never a fan of black and white movies but i thought What ever happened to baby jane with Bette Davies was really creepy.

I certainly didnt find Darkness Falls scary - it was just another of the tried and tested formula - it even had the creepy looking mask!

The only 2 films I've ever found scary were The Shining and The Others.  Creepy

The Excorcist. I saw it when I was a teenager, and it played on my mind for years. Probably would'nt be so scary now coz its nearly 30 years old.
some1 told me that The Grudge was really scary and  nearly all the people in the cinema screamed

Don't see THE Ring. See the japanese version its better.

It's just called Ring. No The.

The US always screws up a good film.

Another one from the land of the rising sun is Audition. The Grudge was also an American remake of another Jap movie.

Japanese....always weird and creepy and damn good for a good horror movie

well im shocked that someone thought the others was creepy!!! I sussed it out after about half an hour, it was rubbish!!

A truly twisted film is the entity(and its a true story)

You should try watching some Japanese horror films. The Grudge and the Ring are remakes of Japanese films, but the japanese are far scarier than the Hollywood renakes. I'm quite annoyed that Hollywood have remade these films and ruined them. The Japanese films are a lot darker and scarier, and they are usually a bit slower and thus building up the tension and fear. Also try Dark Water, Bangkok Haunted, The Eye.

Yes - it's called Salem's Lot and starred David Soul.  I saw it first when I was 17 and my family were on a camping trip in Derbyshire;  I had the lights out in my bedroom and my bed was actually facing the curtains when there was a scene in which this dead kid called Danny Glick - who had just been buried - floated up to the window and started beckoning his brother to the window.  I can quite honestly say that I was scared rigid and even in writing this I can feel the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end!

Salem's Lot, starring David Soul of all people.  Genuinely, though, it is just terrifying.
Salem's Lot.  Hands down.
