When I record certain programs it misses the end, eg top gear last night. I have it set to have 1 minute before and after. Anyone any idea what's happenning and how I can get it to record the whole program. Most programs it's fine.

You have to allow for Programmes to not start and end on time so set the time recording acordingly
Top Gear this season has usually run to 9.05 in any case

with every thing else it just latches on to it when it's on the time doesn't seem to matter.
You have to use the Timer Facility accessed from your Menu and set the Recording Times there.

yes I know how to do it manually. But what I'm saying that 99.9% of the time the actual timing of the program is irrelevant, you just pick it off the schedule and sky+ starts recording when it's actually on, not the scheduled time.

Is there a sky+ expert out there anywhere?
The BBC, not having specific advert slots within their schedule (but feeling the need to promote their own output), occasionally start and end some shows a few minutes before or after the indicated times on the EPG. For many decades BBC1 has had scheduled weeknight shows which nominally start at 7pm but have actually began at 6:58 or 6:59pm. This latest run of TG has indeed overun the nominal 9pm finish by a couple of minutes.

It is not true that the EPG timer starts and finishes with the programme otherwise there would be no need for the ability to offset the start/end time. I have mine set for 2 mins either side which has yet (so far) to fail me.
it happens to me as well and its so annoying, ive even got mine set for 15 minutes before and after and it still finishes early and sometimes i even miss the start of the programme!

OK thanks all
Similar to gina32, I used to set mine for 10 mins before start/after finish and it would still "fail" to record the whole programme!

With the technology available today, surely the boradcasters could send a signal (similar to the ones that I belive used to preceded "Videoplus" programmes) to adjust any recording timings that are in our Sky+ boxes?

Another bugbear I have is that some programmes don't have a "series link" on them whereas others on the same channel do.
