Timothy Spall is certainly one of our very finest actors. Tonight's 'The Street' was to me the very best of an excellent series. What a vast amount of emotions he can portray. Not a question, I know!! I just had to show my appreciation somewhere.

I think that was an excellent series tonyted. All four of the main characters were brilliant. Josie Lawrence, Brenda Blethyn, Timothy Spall and Robert Dawes. It used to make me laugh and cry at times. I would love to see that repeated again on tv but they only seem to repeat the rubbish.
Sorry Lottie to but in but I haven't watched any of The Street. Friends do say they have all been brilliant though so will look out for the re-runs.
Jan you must watch; you will weep with each one. The acting and storylines are superb.
seconded, thirded, fourtheth - whichever.

I missed the very first one, but all the others have been excellent - I particularly liked the one about the soldier burned in Afghanistan and last week's about the alcoholic discovering he has a Downs Syndrome 16 year old son.

Brilliant acting, writing, everything. Apparently there are no plans for a third series - but let's hope the powers that be change their minds.
I was a tad disappointed with last nights episode.

I don't know why, so for me last nights episode comes last in my order of appreciation.

Don't get me wrong the acting is superb, maybe it was the storyline.
I do agree funny girl - it was excellent acting, but I didn't get so involved in it or rate it as highly as the previous 3.
you got to watch him in auf weidersehn pet though, fantastic!
Just to say he lives near me. My partner has seen him a couple of times - wish I had. I think he is a great actor. He is in a drama this coming Sunday evening which looks really interesting so make a note if you are a fan of his.

Oddly enough last night's episode made me think of the last series when he ends up buying those snooker balls at the charity do. That was another great episode.

Dramas like The Street make paying the tv licence worthwhile don't they?
There've been some great actors in it but Tim Spall is probably my favourite. I always watch anything he's in, even if the subject doesn't interest me that much he gives so much that it becomes intesting. He survived cancer 13 years ago, I can't believe it's been that long, and says the trauma of that has helped with his portrayal of many emotional scenes. So well done to Tim, hope we see him for many years to come.

this is my 2nd attempt, grrrr....if this post disappears into space I'll show some emotion! :o)

Thanks for all your postings.

Do you know, Tim Spall is hardly an oil painting but I could fall in love with him!! He seems to be such a modest person in real life - a real gem. For me, he can't do anything wrong.

Perhaps I enjoyed last night more than the others because it was Tim! I had tears rolling down my cheeks at the Funeral Scene.

Eggnoglatte - I will definitely look out for the drama on Sunday. Have you any more details of Channel, time etc.
Thanks.

LoftyLottie,

Its something to do with guns or murderers etc, seen clips the past week about it.

He is also on later in the year playing the UK's fattest man filmed in/near Manchester.
Tim Spall is a fine and versatile actor.
Sadly though (as it's stuck in my head) I can only see him as Margaret Rutherford,a part he played (brilliantly) some years ago now.

If anyone can find a clip it would be most appreciated!
His son Rafe is a good actor too...currently in Desperate Romantics as William Holman Hunt.
Hi Lofty,
I was counting numbers in my head while watching last nights episod!. Why? I didn't want to cry in front of my husband & I needed a distraction! made me think how a 'good' actor can move you emotionally x
'episode' x

Thanks trt. I just bought a TV Times today and it has an article about him and the new dramas. Something to look forward to.

Thanks everybody. Tim is obviously very, very popular and rightly so.

(Fortunately, Mr LL didn't notice my tears, Sachs x)
