Following the success of the film, (commissioned by an embryonic Channel 4 in 1982), the song was re-recorded by Aled Jones and released as a single in 1985. The single reached no.5 in the charts and catapulted the angelic choirboy to fame - with everyone assuming that it was him, Aled Jones, singing on the film soundtrack.
Peter Auty, the actual singer on the film, wasn't even mentioned in the end-credits due to the rush to finish the film's production. This omission was finally corrected after the film's 20th anniversary in 2002.
