sorry I meant to ask the question - can you tune an old telly which has only four programmes - one of the older ones - my sis-in-law only has a very old set!
No this is for tv's with freeview channels.and other channels. Your sister-in-laws tv will soon be obsolete if she does not have a free view box. She will either have to buy tv with built in free view or the freeview box.Hope this helps.

If it is a really old tv it may not have a scart socket. In that case you will need to get a Freeview box with an RF modulator.Something like this

The alternative is to get a tv with a scart socket and then connect a freeview box.

Also check local tv dealers they may have some older tv's with integrated Freeview going cheap as lots of people upgrade to LCD/Plasma large screen tv's
