Hi everybody I have been on here for about a year and a half and have answered some of your questions.
Being on the computer a good bit of the day seems a waste of life to me but whatever I do - when I finish I will go down and feed the dog and lie in bed. I have the most heinous INSOMNIA ever - and am frightened that I am taking too many sleeping pills - I took 4 x 10s tranqs the other night and I was still up. Have loads of friends who have stopped asking me to go out now as I just cant face it and another thing do not want to go do doctors as he has prescribed antidepressants which I tried for a long time and did not work. I do enjoy answerbank most of the time but feel I need to be back in the working world even after working for 38 years in the Civil Service - got medically retired which I wanted at the time but feel "needed". I also do a voluntary job in Credit Union have done 25 years - I have a few pounds - but really nothing matters - I will have to get out out - sorry for rabbiting on here

Hi Connemara
I too suffer from depression and live alone........I'm okay as long as my meds are right.....I've just had them reviewed and changed again and must say at the moment I'm feeling the best I have in ages.
I also have mobility problems (I can't get off my fat arse) so I spend a lot of time on my PC.
I enjoy on-line games as Equaliser mentioned and play backgammon and also hearts. Had a few games of hearts this morning.....the internet sorts a game out for you and you can chat with the other players if you want....I've been playing today with 2 dutch guys and a german lady.
My main on-line interest, apart from AB, is genealogy, which you can become totally engrossed by. I have my family tree on GenesReunited and the other members on there are great....they also have a chat forum for interested parties.
You don't have to go out to 'meet' people...some of my best 'friend' are pixels......

Hi connemmara, I agree with craft, you may well enjoy the distraction and compelling aspect of researching your family history, you could include short trips to your local library to access the mibrary version of ancrestry.co.uk for free searches, and it would help you to find a purpose to communicate with family you may have not had the need to get in touch with, see my beginners guide under the article tab in 'family' on here and also check out this site as a taster:
familysearch.org.
just put one of your family surnames in and see what results you get.
