Iceland documentary

Does anyone remember a documentary about a guy who goes to Iceland on his own (I think he was meant to go with a friend, but he died, so he went anyway in his honour) and travelled there via cargo ship and hitchhiked around the country meeting various unusual characters? Does anyone know what it was called or who made it?

I remember it . I think  it was called "Journey to Hell", as this was the name of the village his friend came from. Can remember the bit where he was given a lift from a VERY drunk guy and the bit where he ate rancid shark meat from a pit!! Hope that helps.
