...late 70s 80s.
Anyone feel the same as I do about these shows .They were quick,witty,topical,well acted and funny .
Heres a few to start with

Soap
Mork and Mindy
Laverne and Shirley
WKRP in Cincinnati
Diff'rent Strokes

There was one about a male immigrant in New York (I think) who lived over a shop and spoke in a very fractured East European type accent but I cant remember the name of the show.

Oh yes they were good, Happy Days eh..oops theres another one

OK fuzzy diffrent strokes made up the numbers,but please check out WKRP in Cincinnati brill characters,Dr Johnny Fever, Venus Flytrap and more It wasnt wcr@p it was great

Couldnt do Taxi but forgot Cheers and therefore one of the very best in Frazier
I loved Frazier, pompous buffoon that he was, but the best character was Niles.
Frasier was brilliant. Pedant as I am though, it didn't start until 1993.

Was the New York one Perfect Strangers? The foreign guy was called Balki and his catch phrase was 'don't be ridiculous'?

Thankyou for that Perfect Strangers it was. I didnt get much right what with New York not Chicago and East european not Greek,still you identified it for me ta again
