Star wars (again)

how come in star wars one caracter speaks english then the caracter there talking to speaks a completly different langugue wouldn't make more sence for both to speak the same langugue

The two characters may not have the vocal equipment to talk in each other's language, but can hear and understand the speech. Either that, or it makes it easier for those that don't speak the alien language to follow!

When I was at uni, there was an English secretary and a Russian tutor who understood each other's languages perfectly and they often held conversations where one spoke English and the other Russian. So, perhaps, not as strange as you might think.
