On one hand, i don't imagine they have lots of money to spend, but the brides do save up a lot and they are very ornate dresses.

they did say that you don't know how many will turn up as there are no official invitations, people spread it by word of mouth and if there's noone in the area, noone will come.

I would just like to say to dothawkes31 that gypsys do have to pay tax and national insurance and everything else for what they earn . . . most have trades but yes are usually self employed. It is the girls choice whether or not to drop out of school so as with anyone you will find some that are better educated than others. I am a gypsy lass and was raised with better morals than many of the people i went to school with. As for education i also made the decision to go to university where i am currently studying for my degree, this is a decision that i discussed with my family and they support completely!!! It is important to both me and my family that i have a family of my own but i am making the choice to also have a career. Upon finishing my degree I plan to marry and be a full time mother until my children reach school age and then carry on with my career so me and my husband can give them the life and if daughters pay for the wedding that they deserve. That is all any gypsy family wants!!! A wedding is a special day which we will only ever have once in our lifetime so why not make it as special and memorable as possible

I was surprised by the culture of travellers, having preconceived ideas which turned out to be false, specifically regarding morals. However, I did have to put up with the local travellers coming to my work and it was a horrible experience every time. Constant fighting and intimidation and also dirtiness i.e. poo on the floor and walls. It was really disgusting. The mother of the bride who said that we were racist don't understand the term. People that are racist are those that don't tolerate others for no reason. I can't tolerate travellers because they are disrepectful of others. To poo on the floor and expect someone else to pick it up and then to cancel their function isn't racism it's called protecting yourself!

The reason they can afford such lavish wedding is because most of them live in Trailers and have low over all cost of living!

To bad they still don't go around and dance at shows,what wasted talent!
