...what is it about coppers in soaps, especially Corrie.The two last night showed not a hint of sympathy, understanding,politness or tenderness towards Gail, David, Tina, Audrey or anyone else.Neither of them even offered a simple smile of condolence.I cant help thinking Morse or Frost or Columbo or the most sympathetic of the lot,Foyle would have handled the situation with a lot more dignity and grace.

It's probably because they are being payed the wage of an extra, minimum wage probably! they aren't exactly gonna make an effort are they?
I should think they're tired of having to go round to Gail's house - again! Must be getting a bit tedious!

Very true to life then, I'd say. A more indifferent unsympathetic bunch of people I have yet to come across.
I don't know that smiling is really appropriate when delivering such news.
Foyle probably got paid a lot more than those two plods janz - that's why he would do it a tad more class

Thankyou for that ahms, may I suggest you put yourself foreward to the tv production people as an adviser on this subject.Hopefully you might change the attitude as you point out in the first part of your post.
I disagree with you ahmskunnirt,
officers do get trained to break bad news to family's, I know my son is one of them.
Maybe its been a long time since you were in the force?
