Was watching a 2 hour Poirot the other night,and it made me wonder why Captain Hastings & Miss Lemon are no longer in it ?Any ideas

No real idea, except they seemed to appear more often in the one hour versions of Poirot.

Depends on the story. Hastings leaves for Argentina part way through the series of books, and Miss Lemon doesn't come in right at the beginning of the series. Neither were the books written in chronological order, just to confuse matters.
