Looking at the specifications on a HDTV, it says 50 hertz can anyone tell me what this means.

I am just compering TVs and some have 50 hertz and some 100 hertz, what basically does this do

basically if your set is 100htz you'll get smoother action if your watching say a football match
personally i wouldn't bother with 100htz it has it's draw backs too
