Where does "Are you dancing?" "Are you asking?" "I'm asking" "Then I'm dancing" come from? Is it a movie quote?

It comes from a seventies sitcom called The Liver Birds.  It was a voice-over at the end of the theme tune.
It was also quoted by Jade from Big Brother on an advert for her dance instructing DVD.
Although "The Young Ones" did a slightly different (and better) version.
was in a scouse film called dancing thru the dark
Francie and Josie ( characters created by a Scottish comedy double act, Rikki Fulton and other guy whose name I can't remember) did a wee routine that used these lines which I think might pre date the Liver Birds.
I believe it is a sample from a song sung by Scaffold (mid-sixties)
Jack Milroy was the other member of Francie and Josie.
I'll go with The Scaffold idea. It is so Scouse, I can't see it coming from anywhere else.
