Flicking through the channels tonight after hours of football and tennis and came across Evening with Freddie Starr a celebrity show had seen it before but it was funny and entertaining, what became of him!
Saw him in concert 30 years ago, horrible man. Met Marco Pierre White a couple of weeks ago, nice guy but does not wash to often. Freddie Starr, never want to see him again.
His stage act was disappointing - he came on late and was on stage for only three quarters of an hour. No amount of folk cheering and whistling etc. would bring him back on for an encore. He had bu88ered off, good and proper. We felt we had been ripped off for the price, to be honest.
His outstanding portrayal of a Beauty Queen being interviewed made me laugh and I had to go into the garden to get some fresh air...at other times he was poor.....alcohol and drugs.
My dad saw him in the clubs in Manchester when he first started and used to come home and tell us all about him. It was quite a few years later when he became famous. I remember dad saying he was very active on stage, and at one club he used to jump off a really high stage into the audience. Freddie and the Dreamers were another act he often saw.
