Comic genius or dirty old man?

Both. I think he was very hit or miss. Some of his stuff was great, particularly the leather clothes on leather sofa squeaking sketch and anything involving chasing girls round at artificially high velocity. The fastest milkman in the west though, hmmm, not a giggle there. They love him over here (Stockholm) along with Peter Sellers, Blackadder and the Pythons. They don't get Eddie Izzard though.

Almost tempted to say neither.....I always thought of him as an OK jobbing comedian of the old school, and not particularly dirty...
